Charles “Stretch” Ledford has worked in 50 countries on five continents. His images have been published by leading corporations, advertising agencies, magazines, and newspapers around the world, including Nike, Shell Oil, Ryder Trucks, Sanofi-Aventis, Medicus-Lifebrands, Junior Achievement, Ogilvy & Mather, Doner, Fahlgren, Siddall, Arnold Worldwide, Cole & Weber, The Martin Agency, Time, Newsweek, The Washington Post Magazine, USA Weekend, Outside, Der Spiegel, and Lürzer’s International Archive.

His work has been displayed by galleries and museums in North Carolina, Florida, Virginia, Illinois, and Colorado. In 1993, his work was featured as a one person show, “To The Ends of the Earth: The Mission Photography of Charles Ledford,” at the Billy Graham Center Museum in Wheaton, Illinois.

Stretch’s work has been recognized with awards from the National Press Photographers’ Association, the New York Art Directors’ Club and the Communication Arts Photography Annual.

He taught Professional Photographic Practices in the Art School of Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia, for six years, and has lectured extensively at universities and community organizations throughout the United States. Stretch is currently working toward a Masters of Arts degree in Multimedia Journalism at the University of Miami School of Communication, where teaches Introduction to Photojournalism. He is a member of the National Press Photographers Association, the American Society of Media Photographers, the Online News Association, and the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication.
